You’re Invited! – National Indigenous Engagement on the North American Waterfowl Management Plan

Environment and Climate Change Canada – Canadian Wildlife Service (ECCC-CWS) and the Centre for Indigenous Environmental Resources (CIER) would like to invite you and members of your community or organization to a workshop on the North American Waterfowl Management Plan (NAWMP)! The sessions will begin with an introduction to the current NAWMP followed by discussion on how the NAWMP can provide value to Indigenous communities as they develop conservation plans and projects. The purpose of the two national workshops is for ECCC-CWS to work with and learn from Indigenous participants to gain a better understanding of how the NAWMP can better support interests of Indigenous communities and organizations in wetland and waterfowl conservation.

ECCC-CWS are looking to identify effective ways to ensure there is Indigenous representation in the NAWMP government structure both nationally and regionally. The final goal of the workshops is for ECCC-CWS to take lessons learned and apply them to the NAWMP following the respectful and meaningful participation of Indigenous communities and organizations.

There are two national sessions; January 30th, 2024 and February 7th, 2024. Please register for one of two sessions, but if you are unable to attend for your region you are welcome to attend the other workshop. Please register by January 26th using the registration links below:
